Hey, I’m Lauren.

I’m a journalist, researcher and narrative strategist whose work has appeared in Foreign Policy, Smithsonian Magazine, Wired, The New Humanitarian, Vice and many others. Most recently, I led executive communications at Devex, where I still write regularly.

My reporting tends to focus on the practical impacts of policy and systems, and I’ve covered everything from how climate change is shifting gender roles in northern Kenya to the effect of politics on saving endangered rhinos. In addition to journalism, I do content work and consulting for a variety of organizations like NRDC, World Wildlife Fund and InterAction.

I hold an MSc. in Humanitarianism, Conflict & Development from the University of Bath, where I wrote my dissertation on the extent to which digital connectivity is informing climate adaptation in Bangladesh.
